Sec. 52-3.2. Sterilization of instruments

- All instruments, including collection containers, used for both sterile and clean, nonsterile retrieval of tissues shall be either licensed by the FDA for single use or be sterilized prior to each use. Heat sterilization shall be by autoclaving at 121.5 degrees Celsius for 15 minutes after the chamber of the autoclave has been evacuated and has reached that temperature, or by dry heat for two hours at 170 degrees Celsius, or by such other procedures as may be approved by the department upon submission of evidence that such other procedures are at least equally effective.
