Sec. 441.214. Newborn

- (a) An inpatient newly born in the hospital and accepted for routine care and lodging in a newborn bed facility. Stillbirths are not to be considered newborn.(b) The following should not be included as newborn patient days:(1) boarder babies for nonmedical reasons;(2) premature infants;(3) infants born outside of hospital;(4) newborn who, for medical reasons, remain in the hospital after the mother's discharge; and(5) newborn who become sick and require general hospital care.
