Sec. 8-1.3. Exit passageway

(a) An unobstructed exit or passageway from an elevator to the outside of the building shall be provided at the lowest point of an elevator's travel.
(b) Passageway under car.
No elevator car installed after April 15, 1915 shall be permitted to descend into a passageway. (See also § 8-1.26.)
