Sec. 15.6. Limitations on use of consecutive two-physician certificate admission

- A patient admitted to a hospital upon an application and certificate of two physicians, pursuant to section 31.27 of the Mental Hygiene Law, may be continued in such hospital upon another two-physician certification pursuant to such section only upon condition that an application be made, within 72 hours of the filing of such second application, for a court order, pursuant to section 31.33 of the Mental Hygiene Law, authorizing continued retention of such patient. If application for such court order is not made within 72 hours, the patient shall be discharged.
