Sec. 633.6. Supervisory requirements

  • (a) Principles of compliance.
    (1) Each agency/facility operated or certified by OPWDD shall establish written agency/facility policies/procedures relative to the supervision of employees and volunteers that, at a minimum:
    (i) identify all line and onsite supervisors and their supervisory responsibilities;
    (ii) provide a mechanism whereby employees and volunteers on all shifts are made aware of the identity and availability of their supervisors;
    (iii) provide for periodic supervisory consultation with employees and volunteers;
    (iv) designate the method whereby supervisors are evaluated relative to their managerial and supervisory skills; and
    (v) are available to employees and volunteers.
    (2) In developing such policies/procedures, the agency/facility shall take into consideration the population served; architectural factors; facility size; staffing patterns and rationales; qualifications and stated responsibilities of supervisors; and training of staff and supervisors, particularly in the prevention, reporting, remediation or treatment of abuse.
    (3) Appropriate assistance shall be given to those supervisors whose evaluation has indicated the need for improvement of managerial or supervisory skills.
    (b) Standards of certification.
    (1) The line and onsite supervisors are known to the employees and volunteers interviewed.
    (2) The methods designated to evaluate line and onsite supervisors are known to the supervisors interviewed.
