Sec. 81.21. Penalties

- (a) A registration as a vehicle dismantler, salvage pool, mobile car crusher or itinerant vehicle collector may be suspended or revoked for a violation of section 415-a or 429 of the Vehicle and Traffic Law, for a conviction of any provision of the Penal Law relating to theft or possession of motor vehicles or motor vehicle parts, for a change in status which would have resulted in the denial of the registration initially, for a false statement to the commissioner, for a violation of title 10 of the Vehicle and Traffic Law or for a violation of this Part.(b) In addition to, or in lieu of, suspending or revoking a registration, the commissioner may require the registrant to pay a civil penalty not exceeding $1,000 for each violation.
