Sec. 590.1. Applicability of regulations

(a) This Part shall govern the possession and use of firearms, rifles, shotguns, airguns and weapons on the premises of the State-operated institutions of State University of New York, in accordance with the provisions of Penal Law, section 265.01(3) and the rules for the maintenance of public order (Part 535, infra).
(b) Except for employees of State University, this Part shall not apply to the possession of firearms, rifles, shotguns or weapons by persons in the military or other service of the United States or the State of New York, in pursuit of official duty when duly authorized by Federal or State law, regulation or order to possess the same.
