Sec. 590.5. Authorization for university police officers

(a) The chief administrative officer of a State-operated campus may authorize those university police officers to possess ammunition and firearms while on duty who:
(1) have been designated police officers;
(2) have successfully completed a course of instruction conducted under the strict supervision of qualified firearms instructors;
(3) have qualified at least semiannually thereafter; and
(4) have been recommended by the chief of university police.
(b) The scope of such authorization shall be defined in writing, and may be rescinded at any time.
