Alternatives to Incarceration 13-A Programs
The NYS Division of Criminal Justice Services' (DCJS) Office of Probation and Correctional Alternatives (OPCA) is issuing a Request for Applications (RFA) for the Annual Alternatives to Incarceration Service Plan and Application pursuant to article 13-A of the Executive Law. Approximately $3.2 million will be available in 2012 to New York counties (outside of New York City) through county ATI Advisory Boards consistent with funding allocations preserved at the 2011-12 level.
The funding is available to provide continued support for ATI programs. The Office of Probation and Correctional Alternatives' goal for all ATI programs is to reduce recidivism, promote public safety, and enhance defendant/offender accountability through effective community corrections programming. Funds will be available for a 12 month period beginning no earlier than July 1, 2012 and ending no later than June 30, 2013.

Urban and Community Forestry Program Funds - Round 11
Urban and community forestry projects throughout neighborhoods and parks to provide environmental, economic, and social benefits; and improved quality of life for New York urban residents.
Applications must be postmarked or delivered by 4:00 pm June 21, 2012. At least $750,000 in grants will be available to municipalities, public benefit corporations, public authorities, school districts and not-for-profit organizations that have a public ownership interest in the property or are acting on behalf of a public property owner. Communities may request from $2,500 to $50,000, depending on municipal population, with a 50/50 match requirement. Eligible project categories include tree inventories; management plans; tree planting; maintenance and invasive pest detection studies. Additionally, $1,000 Quick Start Arbor Day Grants are available with no match requirement to help communities support the beginnings of a tree program by having an Arbor Day celebration. Funds are made available from the Environmental Protection Fund and will be managed and allocated by DEC.
Grant proposals should discuss the scope of work, how the project will enhance local economies by providing environmental, economic and or social benefits in the community. In selecting sites, appropriate consideration should be given to under-served neighborhoods, as well as targeting areas of environmental concern. Applicants are encouraged to form regional partnerships. Proposals that help to implement watershed protection will also be considered.
DEC foresters are available to provide applicants with technical assistance. DEC staff will review the completed grant applications. Recipients will be chosen based on the established rating criteria including: cost effectiveness; project budget; projected benefits; use of recommended standards for implementation; community outreach and education; local support and regional impact. FTA Section 5310 Elderly & Disabled Program
The Solicitation for Project Applications for Federal Fiscal Year 2012 has begun for the purchase of accessible vehicles to provide passenger transportation services to elderly individuals and individuals with disabilities under Section 5310 of Chapter 53, Title 49, United States Code. Applications are available on the NYS Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) website and must be submitted to NYSDOT (received or postmarked) by June 1, 2012, the application deadline. Only private non-profit corporations, or public bodies (under limited circumstances) - public bodies which can certify that no non-profit corporations or associations are available in an area to provide transportation services for elderly individuals and individuals with disabilities or that are approved to coordinate services to these individuals - are eligible to apply under this federal program. It is estimated up to $11.5 million will be made available for capital equipment as part of this competitive grant process. This grant opportunity requires a 20% local share match.
