Sec. 14-9.7. Safety valve and safety relief valve testing and repairs

- (a) Testing frequency.The testing of frequencies of safety and safety relief valves will vary from plant to plant due to operating conditions. However, under normal conditions, the following schedule is required and a log must be kept of these tests:(1) Power boilers where the maximum allowable working pressure is up to 400 psi:(i) manually tested not less than once each month; and(ii) pressure tested once each year.(2) Power boilers where the maximum allowable working pressure is over 400 psi must be pressure tested at least once each year.(b) Repairs of safety valves and safety relief valves.Repairs performed on safety valves and safety relief valves by other than the manufacturer must be performed by an organization in possession of a current National Board VR Certificate of Authorization.
