    Report on Callable Load Opportunities
    PURSUANT TO THE PROVISIONS OF THE State Administrative Procedure Act, NOTICE is hereby given of the following proposed rule:
    Proposed action:
    The Public Service Commission is considering whether to approve or reject, in whole or in part, a report filed by Consolidated Edison Company of New York, Inc. regarding Rider U—Distribution Load Relief Program pursuant to commission order in Cases 07-E-0392 and 08-E-0176 issued April 24, 2008.
    Statutory authority:
    Public Service Law, section 66(12)
    Subject:
    Report on callable load opportunities.
    Purpose:
    Rider U report assessing callable load opportunities in New York City and Westchester County during the next 10 years.
    Substance of proposed rule:
    The Commission is considering a report filed by Consolidated Edison Company of New York, Inc. (Con Edison) pursuant to Commission Order issued April 24, 2008 in Cases 07-E-0392 and 08-E-0176. In its Order, the Commission directed Con Edison to file a comprehensive study of callable load potential within Con Edison's service territory. The study is part of a planning process for developing effective demand response programs to reduce peak system loads.
